Meet Nikki Levin Patterick, Owner

Nikki Patterick is a devoted mother and passionate advocate for helping others create families. Her personal understanding of the importance of family drives her dedication to Fertility Law and the clients she serves.

Nikki is an experienced attorney known for delivering thoughtful, individualized solutions tailored to each client’s unique needs. With a patient, client-centered approach grounded in attentive listening and practical expertise, she partners with clients to help them navigate their legal journeys with clarity and confidence. Her family formation practice focuses on guiding individuals and families through life transitions with compassion, creativity, and strategic insight at every step.

With deep experience in assisted reproductive technology (ART), Nikki understands that ART agreements are not only legal documents, but also deeply personal commitments. She combines her legal expertise in contract drafting and negotiation with a warm, approachable manner to ensure every client feels informed, supported, and empowered before moving forward.

Before founding Patterick Law, Nikki practiced in a variety of legal settings, including:

• Cooley LLP, a prominent international law firm
• Kendall, Koenig & Oelsner PC, a boutique corporate and business law firm
• Koupal Law Firm, PC, a firm focused exclusively on family formation, ART, adoption, and estate planning

She also has extensive experience as in-house counsel, having worked remotely and on-site as part of her clients’ legal teams. Earlier in her career, Nikki served as a judicial law clerk to Colorado Supreme Court Justice Gregory Hobbs, Jr.

Nikki is a Fellow of the Academy of Adoption and Assisted Reproduction Attorneys, a professional organization dedicated to advancing the practice of ART law and safeguarding the rights and interests of all parties involved.

Education and Bar Memberships

Nikki holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy with a concentration in Women’s Studies from the University of Texas, graduating with honors. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan Law School, where she served as Managing Editor of the Michigan Telecommunications and Technology Law Review. During law school, she won the American Bar Association’s Law Student Division Client Counseling Competition and interned for Judge Blanche Manning of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.



Nikki has been admitted to practice law in Colorado since 2003 and Michigan since 2026, and is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, Denver Bar Association, and American Bar Association.

Meet Kaylee Martinez, Paralegal

With a background in education and a deep commitment to helping others, Kaylee brings both empathy and professionalism to her role in fertility law. A graduate of Arizona State University and a former special education teacher, she draws on her experience guiding and supporting families through meaningful transitions.

Married and a proud mother of two daughters, Kaylee has also served as a gestational surrogate, giving her unique insight into the challenges and joys of assisted reproductive technology ("ART"). She understands that ART agreements are more than legal documents—they represent life-changing relationships, personal milestones, and the hopes of growing families.



When she's not working, Kaylee enjoys making memories with her husband and daughters. Whether she's exploring the outdoors, discovering a new beach destination, or planning the next family trip to Disney World, she values experiences that bring people together and celebrate the importance of family. Those same values—connection, compassion, and creating meaningful memories—are at the heart of the work she does every day.
